Gun Control and Mass Murder

Because gun violence is so prominent in America, every time there is a shooting spree people go up in arms about how banning weapons would solve this problem. Unfortunately, the majority of American are illogical and don't realize this would be worse scenario. When alcohol became a problem in the United States the first solution to this problem was prohibition. When this happened the demand for alcohol increased and the product that was coming out was usually quite harmful, containing toxic chemicals. America hasn't been the only country to try and outlaw alcohol and prohibition didn't last long for them either. Guns are everywhere, they can't be thrown to the ground and destroyed like a bottle of booze. Criminals will always have firearms and if the government were to take them away from people who follow the laws of the land, they will be completely defenseless to the people who need defending. The only course of action is to allow professionals, citizens, teachers, ceo's, the busboy at your favorite restaurant, EVERYONE, to carry a weapon. Just imagine if a teacher could carry a weapon. The only course of action is to allow open carry for all citizens who can get a foid card and complete a psychological evaluation. Problem solved.

Just as I Thought I Lost All Hope

Today, it finally happened.
http://www.seattlepi.com/news/us/article/Court-strikes-down-Illinois-concealed-carry-law-4108504.php

Within 180 days, Illinois residents will finally have the opportunity to legally carry a firearm. Growing up in a small farming now, I was introduced to hunting at a young age and have always enjoyed firing weapons. Now that I'm in Chicago and I see the type of people walking around, carrying a firearm has never been more of a self fulfilling idea. The crime alerts my college issues, pretty much weekly, always involve the student being on the wrong end of the barrel and being defenseless. In one of the most violent cities in America it's finally time of this change to come.

Voting and its unimportance.. If you're living in a solid state.

This is the first year I've actually been interested and I've come to a harsh realization. Voting in Illinois is basically useless. Illinois has been a Democratic state for quite a long time and if you really think voting for anyone other than a Democrat I think you're just wasting your time. The President isn't elected by popular vote so it only seems that voting is important if you're in a swing state. Now I think Obama would be the best candidate for the next term but I think I'm just going to enjoy my birthday weekend and let the Democratic city of Chicago handle this state for me! Thanks Chicago!

An Inconvenient Truth

Today I watched An Inconvenient Truth for the first time and I have to say I was quite impressed. It seems as if many people make fun of Al Gore and say he "created" global warming but I have come to the conclusion that those said people are quite ignorant. Pollution and the overall mistreatment of our environment is a very serious issue and I suggest that you, me and everyone on Earth do what they can. I've been recycling my aluminum cans for many years now and I think it has been my subconscious first step. Check out this website to learn more about what you can do to help the environment.

Interesting videos I have watched

I can across a couple videos that I think people should watch and maybe you'll have a different perspective that you did before watching the video. I just found them to be quite interesting when it comes to the perception of life and altered states of the mind.

Your Life

Think about how many people are on the earth right this moment.... roughly 7 BILLION people. Now think about how many of those people will have zero impact on your life. Now think about how many billions of people have died over the thousands of years of human existence. Life is just, the people who make a difference are the people that took a chance. Think differently, take chances, talk to strangers, try new things and most importantly imagine yourself in someone else's shoes.

What are your "life" priorities?

It seems as if everyone I talk to has no idea what they want in life. Many simply go through the strides without thinking for themselves. If you don't know what you want in life how can someone think logically? Just a random thought.

Opportunity

Life is short, if you have an opportunity to do something great go for it. There's no such thing as a mistake, just lessons learned and sometimes you have to learn the lesson a few times before it sticks.

Thunderstorms and sleep?

Why is it that I love to fall asleep during a thunderstorm? There's just something about the sound of thunder that I find calming. Just a random thought.

America, Logic and Religion

I can't stand when people say America is the greatest country on earth when they haven't lived in other countries. How can you say this when you don't have any experience with other cultures or lifestyles? The same goes for religion in general. I see people all the time displaying their complete dedication to a religious faith yet do they have any experience with other religions? What if they were born in a different part of the world with parents who had different beliefs? In my opinion, religious influence generally comes from your parents so what if your parents believed in something else? How can the Catholics say that anyone who doesn't believe in their religion with go to "hell"? Religion to me is a waste of time and doesn't reflect true intentions. A person should be judged on their actions not on what they believe in. When will people wake up and understand that their life on earth is very should and shouldn't be wasted attempting to please an imaginary figure in the sky? Start caring for other people, make a difference in the world by doing whatever is it that you enjoy doing, and never hold a grudge.

Government and Religion

When did politics and religion become so ingrained? The religious belief of a president/presidential candidate should have no voter influence but unfortunately if there was a agnostic of atheist candidate they wouldn't even get close to becoming president. America is so ignorant and behind other countries it's sickening. Wake up America and start being logical.
